IPTV TV Guide (EPG) in Canada: Time Zones & Setup

IPTV TV Guide (EPG) in Canada: Time Zones & Setup

The EPG (Electronic Program Guide) is the TV guide in your IPTV player. It shows what is on each channel now and later, and lets you go back to shows you missed with catch-up.

How it loads

Your provider publishes the guide in a format called XMLTV. Each channel has an ID that the player uses to match it with its schedule. With an Xtream Codes login, the guide usually loads by itself; with an M3U playlist you may need to add the guide link.

Time zones in Canada

Canada has six time zones: Pacific, Mountain, Central, Eastern, Atlantic and Newfoundland, which is half an hour ahead of Atlantic time. The guide uses the time of your device. If every show appears a few hours early or late, set the correct time zone on the device first, then use the time-shift option of the player only if needed.

Set it up in TiviMate

  1. Add your playlist with Xtream Codes (see the setup guide).
  2. Go to Settings → EPG, where your playlist's guide is listed.
  3. Choose Update EPG.
  4. Turn on Update on app start in the playlist settings.

Set it up in IPTV Smarters Pro

  1. Log in with Xtream Codes.
  2. Open Live TV and accept loading the TV guide.
  3. If it stays empty, refresh or reinstall the EPG from the app's options; the name of the button differs between versions.

Catch-up

Channels with an archive show a replay or clock icon. Open the guide, move back to a show that already aired and play it. IPTV CND keeps up to 7 days on supported channels.

Common problems

  • Empty guide: update the EPG, then restart the player.
  • Wrong times: check the device time zone, then the time-shift setting.
  • Some channels empty: those channels have no guide data; send the list to support.
  • French and English channels mixed up: use the player's groups or favourites to sort them.
